This is a very special, very brief edition of Recommentunde. I’m finally back in the USA after a summer largely spent in nations that actually invest in social and physical infrastructure for the common good — I know, weird right?! I’ve been keeping up with things and have read and watched and listened to some solid material, but for this issue, I have only one thing to share.

Casey Gerald has written the best piece of 2019. I know it’s only August, and there’s still time for more transformative, insightful, powerful storytelling to emerge, but I’m telling you, this is it.

So, a break in format is due, because I need you to read and feel this piece. It will likely take you 30 to 40 minutes to finish and then days or weeks or years to process. I have not been so moved, felt so seen, been brought to such Amens and Oh Shits in years. I’m still reeling from the truth and beauty of the substance and style of this expression.
