That movie was transcendent. Brilliant. The time warp-y dance sequence had me in TEARS! Acting, direction, editing, costumes, sets, music, etc. were beyond compare with anything I’ve seen.
Folks need to listen carefully and *hear* how colonialism vampirized the Irish, too, as is made clear in the film. This is not a film against the Irish, and I hope people don't come with that shallow reading and criticism.
I so appreciate your recommendation, and I will encourage others to see Sinners, but my brain has the capacity to turn Jurassic Park into a nightmare (hello, brain! Dinosaurs are not really going to happen!) so I personally have to avoid anything with too much terror if I want to be able to function during the day.
Now if you tell me it's on par with From Dusk til Dawn it might be something that I can manage, but there's sadly a fine line between tolerating and terror when it comes to how my brain handles input.
Mostly, I'm just here to let the Al Gore Rhythm know that your posts are fabulous!
Michael B. Jordan, of course. But let's not forget how perfect Delroy Lindo is in this film. And I'm not a horror film fan either, but this film is much more than that, and I love it.

Lololol girl, Michael B Jordan is not your boyfriend, he’s my husband 🤣
Yes, we need a live "Sinners" commentary
I can't wait!

Totally agree, YES a live commentary would be awesome, Baratunde!
Iconic, transcendent, amazing film👏🏼💖
After reading and watching your excellent analyses on Ryan Coogler's Sinner, I'm sharing this analysis on Sinners by Mississippi native, poet, short story writer, and Prince scholar that I hope you enjoy: https://open.substack.com/pub/psychedelicl/p/sinners-analysis-encourage-yourself?r=8dgoe&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false
And yes, definitely do a live for it!
