Wait, I forgot theology twitter.

Regarding Twitter, I can't figure out how/where to follow the different groups I follow now, like Black twitter, disability twitter, immigrant rights twitter, palliative care twitter, and political twitter, plus an assortment of interesting or entertaining accounts. It sounds as if I'd have to have accounts on different Mastodon servers, if I could even find the topics I'm interested in.

Hey Cathy, I agree with the implications of your challenge: that Twitter's value is in part the fact that all the sub communities are in the same room potentially. Even reddit has subreddits but you can access them all in the same app/login. The good thing with Mastodon is that your "home server" doesn't generally prevent you from accessing the communities you want to engage with. Hashtags are still a thing and serve a similar function to bind conversations across time, accounts, and instances/servers. Try out the tools I mentioned (Debirdify and Fediverse) to see where the people (or topics) you're connected to might be concentrated. You also don't have to be in the first wave of Twitter emigrants. You can wait and see how things shake out. There's still a chance Elon doesn't wreck the entire thing.

I'm going to play with Post and a few of the others and will write more on what I find so stay tuned!
