Hi you,
If you’re new, welcome from the compromised lands of Zuck! If you’ve been here a while, thank you too. We’re stepping things up a notch. I made the video message for you, closed caption transcript included if you aren’t able to crank that volume where you are.
Short version: I’m rebooting this space. New name, same face but with more hair (flauntin’ it while I got it!). Welcome to Speak Easy. I’ll be doing some things just for paying folks including this Friday’s live test show right here in the Substack app.
Consider it an AMA-style gathering. I’ll have some monologues, engage with you live, and address topics submitted in advance. (chat post coming soon soliciting input).
The long version is in the video!
Paid subs will get all the lives, ability to comment/interact in all chats, access to exclusive posts including video, and that tingly feeling inside that comes from using money to support creativity.
And if you read / listen to one thing related to what’s happening in U.S. politics right now, I’d suggest you make it The New York Times interview with Curtis Yarvin, an intellectual who has been promoting American monarchy for over a decade. Here’s the video version, print version, and valuable error-correction by Jamelle Bouie.
p.s. I really do think we need to start naming natural disasters after those responsible, not random names or geographic locations. How about The Exxon Fire, Hurricane Citgo, Tropical Storm Chevron? It just feels right.
Please keep breathing (but with a mask if you’re in post-wildfire zones).
