I saw in the local news that today the City of Palm Springs, CA would be doing a flag-raising ceremony for Black History Month. In a nation gripped by Confederate Throwback Syndrome and attempts to erase whole peoples from the history, present, and future of the United States; in a very long month of our feeds filled with state terrorism, murder, and mass stupidity, I decided to walk over and witness this beacon of light and sensibility.
Thanks to the Palm Springs Black History Committee, council member Grace Garner and Mayor Naomi Soto, and always thanks to the fire department!
